The Company
FSC (Five Star Catering) is a London-based, family owned outdoor catering firm. FSC work alongside some of Britain’s most well-known institutions including the Tower of London, Wembley Stadium, British Museum, Lee Valley Trust and Stratford Westfield; major festivals like Glastonbury, BT London Live – Hyde Park and LoveBox to once in a lifetime events such as the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant, Tall Ships Festival Greenwich, and we started 2018, with an array of explosions, at the Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks Display.
FSC work with their event and location clients to generate revenue from their visitor spaces. In many cases, FSC pay generous fees to the location owners or event planners to allow the company to host their units. For special installations such as corporate promotion, outdoor staff catering, FSC offer a range of unit hire options with project management teams always on hand to ensure, together, they are providing the best solution tailored to the end-user market.
The Challenge
In recent years, the size and diversity of FSC’s fleet combined with their experience has enabled the company to develop bespoke catering strategies specifically for their target demographic whilst providing the best possible return on investment within the space available.
Their ever-growing fleet comprises of Mercedes Sprinters LWB and Ice Cream Vans, Iveco Box Vans, Vintage Citroën and Bedford catering vehicles. To cope with the growth in business and increased complexity of managing the efficiency and deployment of their fleet, FSC trialed different fleet management systems
The Solution
“Previously we had trialed another fleet tracking system and found that it was unreliable. The vehicle position data was inaccurate and updates were infrequent. Based on this poor experience, we had reservations as to trialing another fleet tracking system.However, when trialing ScorpionTrack Fleet on our main vehicles we were very satisfied with its accuracy and reporting functions, hence arranged installs on the rest of our fleet. The system also enables us to identify who is driving which of our vehicles. As a result, drivers are more careful and their improved driver behavior and route planning has led to reduced running costs in terms of fuel, servicing, parking tickets and speeding fines.
