A conventional GPS tracker assumes your vehicle has a permanent 12V power supply it can draw from at all times. For most daily drivers, that works. For a caravan on a storage site, or a vehicle left in the same spot for days at a time, it doesn’t.

The ScorpionTrack Quantum3 is a Thatcham S7 approved battery powered GPS tracker built for vehicles that aren’t always connected to a permanent power source. Professional installation is included in the price, and two new features now live make it the only battery powered tracker on the market that lets you configure how often it checks in when stationary.

What Is the ScorpionTrack Quantum3?

The Quantum3 is a professionally installed battery powered GPS tracker. A qualified engineer fits the device to your vehicle, correctly positioned and secured from day one with installation included in the price.

Because it runs from its own battery, there’s no permanent wiring connection needed to your vehicle’s electrical system. Once installed, it tracks location in real time and alerts you to unexpected movement, protecting your car, van, caravan, or trailer regardless of whether it’s connected to a power supply.

If the worst does happen, our UK-based recovery team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help locate and recover your vehicle, working directly with law enforcement. That service is included with your subscription.

It’s also worth checking with your insurer — many providers offer reduced premiums for vehicles fitted with GPS tracking devices, including for caravans and specialist vehicles.

New Feature: Customisable Position Updates — A First for Battery Powered GPS Trackers

No other battery powered tracker on the market lets you choose how frequently it reports location while your vehicle is stationary — and for vehicles left unused for days at a time, that changes what GPS tracking can realistically do for you.

The Quantum3 already provides full tracking throughout every journey, updating at regular intervals while your vehicle is moving. Now you can add scheduled location check-ins during periods of inactivity too:

  • Every 1 hour
  • Every 4 hours
  • Every 8 hours

For a caravan stored at a remote site or a van left overnight somewhere unfamiliar, this gives you confirmed, up-to-date position data on a schedule you set — rather than waiting for a movement alert to tell you something has already happened. You know where your vehicle is, and if it moves when it shouldn’t, you’ll know sooner.

That more frequent location data also gives the 24/7 recovery team a better starting point. The more recent the GPS position, the sooner they can act.

More frequent updates draw more power from the battery. The hourly setting will require more regular battery replacement than the four or eight-hour option. Choose the interval that suits your situation. Full guidance is available here. – Link here

New Feature: Arming Schedules — Automatic Protection on Your Terms

Arming Schedules give you automatic control over when your tracker is actively armed, built around the way you actually use your vehicle.

Previously, arming and disarming was a manual step. Now you can configure your Quantum3 to arm and disarm at set times on set days of the week, and it handles the rest. Once your schedule is saved, it runs automatically with no daily input needed from you.

Park up at the same time each evening? Schedule it to arm then. Leave early in the morning? Set a disarm time before you go. If your caravan is in storage from October through March, schedule it to stay continuously armed for the duration. Your tracker stays alert when the vehicle is sitting, and quiet when you’re using it, cutting out false alerts without requiring you to manage it each day.

To configure Arming Schedules, log in to the ScorpionTrack website or app and navigate to:

Vehicle Management > Alerts > Manage Quantum Schedules

Select your days and times, save, and it runs from there.

To update your settings, log in to the ScorpionTrack website or app at any time. An active subscription is required — manage it through your account or call the Subscriptions Team on 01257 249 928

ScorpionTrack Quantum3 FAQs

Does the ScorpionTrack Quantum3 need to be wired into my vehicle’s electrics?

No. The Quantum3 runs from its own internal battery, with no connection to your vehicle’s electrical system required. This makes it practical for caravans, trailers, campervans, and any vehicle where a hardwired installation isn’t suitable.

Can I use the Quantum3 on a caravan or trailer?

Yes — it’s well suited to both. Because the Quantum3 doesn’t need a permanent power connection, it works independently on any towed vehicle. You can also configure it to stay continuously armed when the caravan or trailer is in long-term storage.

Is a subscription required to use the Quantum3?

Yes. An active subscription gives you access to real-time tracking, movement alerts, and the 24/7 UK recovery service. You can manage your subscription through your ScorpionTrack account online or by calling the Subscriptions Team on 01257 249 928.

Can fitting a ScorpionTrack Quantum3 lower my insurance premium?

Many insurers offer reductions for vehicles fitted with GPS trackers, including for caravans and leisure vehicles. Whether yours qualifies depends on your specific insurer and policy — it’s worth raising at your next renewal.

What happens if my vehicle or caravan is stolen?

Contact the ScorpionTrack recovery team immediately — they’re available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They’ll use the Quantum3’s GPS data to locate your vehicle and liaise directly with law enforcement. Scheduled position check-ins during inactivity mean there’s always a recent location on record, which can make a real difference to how quickly recovery begins.
