MOST TARGETED VEHICLES IN AUGUST
August’s recovery data reflects the vehicles that organised theft networks are actively targeting. Land Rover was the most stolen make recorded in ScorpionTrack’s August data, with the Discovery the most frequently targeted model — a pattern consistent with what we’ve seen across 2026.
The Toyota RAV4 and Lexus NX also featured in August’s most targeted vehicles — two models that continue to attract significant criminal interest due to their value, desirability and resale demand. The presence of the Lexus NX alongside the RAV4 reflects the growing targeting of Toyota Group vehicles by organised networks.
If you drive a Land Rover, Toyota or Lexus, August’s data is a direct signal. These are not opportunistic thefts — they are deliberate, targeted operations.
54% OF VEHICLE THEFTS HAPPENED DURING THE DAY
More than half of all vehicle thefts recorded in ScorpionTrack’s August data took place during daylight hours — between 06:00 and 17:59. That’s 54% of thefts occurring while owners are at work, running errands or going about their day.
The remaining 46% occurred at night — confirming that vehicle theft is a threat across all hours, not just after dark. If your security plan is built around overnight protection, August’s data suggests you may have a significant gap.
METROPOLITAN POLICE: MOST ACTIVE FORCE IN AUGUST
The Metropolitan Police responded to the highest number of ScorpionTrack recovery cases in August — handling 5 recoveries, representing 38% of all ScorpionTrack cases this month. That concentration of activity in Greater London reflects the continued pressure on high-value vehicles across the capital.
West Midlands Police was the runner-up, responding to 3 ScorpionTrack cases — consistent with the West Midlands emerging as one of ScorpionTrack’s most active recovery regions in August.
WHERE VEHICLES WERE RECOVERED IN AUGUST
ScorpionTrack’s August recoveries spanned England and Scotland, with recoveries recorded from a wide range of locations.
Key recovery locations in the North:
- West Yorkshire — the top northern recovery location for ScorpionTrack in August, with vehicles recovered in both Wakefield and Huddersfield
- Greater Manchester — recoveries recorded in Oldham
- Bonnyrigg, Midlothian — a notable recovery in Scotland, nearly 400 miles north of London, demonstrating the national reach of ScorpionTrack’s recovery operation
Key recovery locations in the South:
- Croydon — the top southern recovery location
- Essex (Romford) — 1 recovery recorded in this area
- East Ham, Newham — 1 recovery in East London
