- Thatcham-approved to Category S7. Follow the steps in our self-fit guide keeps it fully compliant:
- Up to 3 years of battery life* before the batteries need replacing — no callout needed, you swap them yourself.
- IP68 rated, so it’s built to handle wet and dusty conditions wherever it’s fitted.
- You’ll get location updates at the start of a trip, five minutes in, and once you’ve parked up.
- If the vehicle hasn’t moved, Quantum3 still checks in every 24 hours with a health-check location update.
- Arm/disarm feature: arm it when the vehicle’s not in use, disarm it when it is. If it moves while armed, our monitoring team calls you to check it’s safe.
- Tracked and managed through the ScorpionTrack app, so you can arm, disarm, and check location from your phone.

Is Quantum3 really Thatcham-approved if I fit it myself?
Yes. Quantum3 is a Thatcham-approved self-fit product, so it’s designed to be installed by you, without an engineer visit. To keep that approval valid, you just need to follow the steps in the Quantum3 install guide and make sure your subscription stays active — both are part of the Thatcham S7 approval, alongside the tracker itself.
Once you’ve registered your tracker and completed the install as set out in the guide, your Quantum3 is fully Thatcham S7 approved and ready to protect your vehicle.
How long does the battery actually last?
Up to three years on 2 x AA lithium batteries at the standard 24-hour update setting, under optimal conditions: strong signal, low usage, no alarm activations. Frequent rides, poor signal or triggered alerts will shorten this, and so will choosing more frequent position updates. Setting hourly check-ins during inactivity draws more power than the 4-hour or 8-hour options, so battery life depends on the update schedule you choose as well as how the vehicle is used. You’ll get a low battery email alert in good time, and batteries are user-replaceable.
What happens if my vehicle is stolen?
If Quantum detects unauthorised movement while armed, our control centre contacts you to confirm. Report the theft to the police and obtain a crime reference number, then share it with our Vehicle Recovery Team, who will liaise with police to aid recovery.
Can I use Quantum3 on something other than a car?
Yes — that’s exactly the kind of use it’s built for. Quantum3 is battery-powered and self-fit, so it works whether a vehicle has electrics or not. That means it covers caravans, motorhomes, trailers, horseboxes, plant, agricultural equipment, boats and classic cars.
Does fitting it myself affect the warranty?
ScorpionTrack Quantum3 units are provided with a comprehensive 2-year warranty in addition to your statutory rights, designed to combat any material or manufacturing defects which become apparent within 2 calendar years from the date of first installation.
In the unlikely event of repairs being required under the provided warranty, please contact us for assistance.
